DOGS SHOW CASE GROOMING
I have been Grooming Show Dogs with my Mum since I can remember. Helping out on Friday's after School before the Show on the weekend. Afghan's really aren't the best Breed to groom when you're shorter than they are on the Grooming Table, but it was all worth it looking back. I have learnt so many grooming skills through trial and error of Mum and I trying something NEW.
If trial and error didn't teach me then Groom Expo 2009 in Hershey, Pennsylvania sure taught me alot. The numerous seminars I attended with Sheila Morris, Verna Holland and Ally Crab, all New Zealand Master Groomers, were amazing. The Expo certainly opened my eyes to Grooming scene in the US. I only hope that I can put all the knowledge I learnt to good use and help anyone who has an interest in Dog Grooming, furthing not only themselves but the Standard of Professional Dog Grooming in New Zealand.
I have passed my final Exam in August 2009 to become one of the
youngest New Zealand Master Groomers at 22 years old, with the National Dog Groomers Association of New Zealand.
Thanks to Vivian Nash, of the highly commended Nash Academy, who invited me to study the Online Courses Nash Academy have to offer and I passed both the courses with Great Grades in 2011.
2011- I was chosen to be Groom Team Captain with with fellow Team Members- Cindy Case, Chieko Atsumi, Angela Anderson and Reserve- Anastasia Shadrina.
We took to Sydney's groomQuest 2012 and unfortunately lost the Trans Tasman Challenge we won in 2011 at Groomalong NZ.
2013- I was chosen to be Groom Team Captain with Team Members- Anastasia Shadrina, Angela Anderson, Kim Reed and Reserve- Fernanda Maragoni. We won the Trans Tasman Challenge at Groomalong NZ in June and decided that our Team should enter the World Groom Team Championships for the very first time in October (4 months to prepare).
We raised funds to get the Team and Mentors- Sheila Morris, Theresa Peacock and Verna Holland- to Barcelona, Spain and had a blast meeting talented Groomers from all around the globe. We came home with a Huge Trophy for Team Spirit and Sportsmanship which was an awesome reward for our efforts representing New Zealand.
