I'm Emma Case-Peters and this is a site dedicated to my life of Dogs.....!
I have always had alot to do with Dogs since I was brought up with Afghan Hounds. My Mum then aquired 3 Griffon's from Taff Kennels, Bill and Sheila Morris, I thought they were the funniest looking Dogs ever. They made our Family's relationship with Bill and Sheila stronger and we started to Show the Griffon's.
My love however was the Taff Poodles. It has taken me nearly 10 years to take on a Miniature Poodle of my own to Show. Since I first stepped in the Ring with a Taff Poodle, I have learnt so much and I now have the skills and knowledge to Prepare and Present a Poodle to the Standard required in the Ring.
I am now New Zealand's Youngest Master Groomer with my thanks to my Grooming Mentor, American Certified Master Groomer, Sheila Morris. Having the President of the National Dog Groomers Association of New Zealand as your mentor, friend and basically FAMILY, really does make you learn quicker. I started working in Taff's Grooming Room in 2007 and haven't looked back. My Mum, Cindy Case, also works at Taff's Grooming Room so it is very helpful having her around to help out if needed.
In 2006 I met my partner, Ashley Peters, and we got enagaged in 2008. Ash just loves our four-legged Children, Tonto and Soulja. He can quite often be seen in the Show Ring helping Sheila and I out if we have too many Poodles for 2 people to Handle, with great success I might add. On the 12th of January 2013, Ashley and I were married at the Canterbury Kennel Centre- a Great start to a Fantastic Year which was packed with success in the Conformation ring and Grooming ring.
I am very proud to be the New Zealand Groomer Of The Year in 2011 and 2013- with the award being given out every 2nd year- I would consider myself among the very few Groomers who have won this prestigious Title twice in a row.
I am very Family Oriented and have never been too far away from Home (Christchurch, New Zealand) except for when I had a short OE in 2002 in Japan. My Host Family, Jin, Ikuko and Yui Inamura, were very lovely and included over 40 Boston Terriers and a couple Griffons. I was only 15 when I stayed with them and I learnt a great deal from the Show Circuits in Tokyo and Osaka. My favourite memory was Showing a Pembroke Welsh Corgi that was Bred by Bill and Sheila. I took my newly learnt Handling skills with me to Crufts in 2003, where I represented New Zealand in the International Junior Dog Handling Competition. Mum and I had a blast in England and in the US where we, of course, went to Disney Land. Nowadays at Shows you can find me helping out with many different Breeds, but I do have a soft spot for Australian Shepherds, where I help Trudy Gallavin of Trogun Australian Shepherds without too much arm twisting, just a Rum or two.
In the future, I aspire to be an All Breeds Dog Judge, which I have all the time in the world to study for. In 2012 I sat my Open Book Exam and was approved on to the Ribbon Parade Judges Panel in 2013. I look forward to taking the next step onto the Open Show Panel in the next year.
Please have a look at my Site and feel free to get in contact if you have any questions.
